  • Why don’t we remember our Past Lives at Birth?

Why don’t we remember our Past Lives at Birth?

The vast majority of people don’t remember their past lives at birth, or at least that’s what we believe.

There is a relatively small number of people that are documented to remember their past lives, at least in the western world. While this is not surprising given that reincarnation is not a part of the doctrines taught by the dominant western religions, there are exceptions.

So why don’t we remember our past lives? A simple explanation would be that past lives don’t exist. However, there is too much evidence that they do. The better explanation is that those memories would be a major distraction for most people.

Most people have enough trouble living in the Now as it is. Especially as people get older they spend an increasing amount of time reviewing unresolved traumas from years gone by. Having to deal with all of the unresolved issues and emotions from past lives would be too overwhelming for most people.

So should we avoid investigating past live memories? The answer is no, because there is a lot to gain from understanding and integrating our soul journey.

It is however best to wait until we have reached a certain level of spiritual maturity. At the right time, past life investigation can provide invaluable benefits and accelerate our spiritual growth tremendously.

How do you know when to start? When you feel the pull. It’s similar to traveling to another country. When the time is right, you just know.

Here are a couple of books to check out if you feel so inclined.

  • Is Your Emotional Baggage Holding You Back?

Is Your Emotional Baggage Holding You Back?

Are you your own worst enemy? Do you always find reasons to procrastinate? Do you hesitate or simply change course just before your project is about to pay off?

Then chances are your suppressed emotions are holding you back.

To understand the power of suppressed emotions we first need to acknowledge that everything we do is driven by our emotional needs.

We buy expensive clothes, fast cars and exotic holidays not for their practical benefits but for the emotional needs they satisfy. Actually, when your really think about it, everything we do is driven by our desire for pleasure and our need to avoid pain.

All of our decision making is determined by our perception of pleasure and pain. We choose the alternative that we believe will give us more pleasure and less pain. Often this decision making process occurs outside our conscious awareness. We come up with all sorts of stories to justify our daily choices but when we look closely and honestly we realize that we are always driven by pleasure and pain.

Sometimes we experience more emotional pain than we can cope with. Something or someone triggers us to experience large amounts of anger or sadness or some other unpleasant emotion.

When we hit our emotional pain threshold we stop processing the painful emotion and shut down emotionally, at least temporarily. The result is suppressed or unprocessed emotion. Since we don’t want to experience this pain on an ongoing basis we drive it deeper into our unconscious, the invisible part of our mind.

Avoiding the emotional pain is only a short term solution however. Driving the pain into our unconscious makes it invisible to us and hence more dangerous.

What we fail to realize is that unprocessed emotions stored in our unconscious sabotage all of our decision making by skewing our perception of pleasure and pain. The result is constant self-sabotage.

This self-sabotage can be largely invisible to us for long periods of time because it takes place at the unconscious level.

Very few people realize the enormous cost of their suppressed emotions. Suppressed emotions are responsible for many unfulfilled relationships, missed financial opportunities and untold health problems.

Suppressed emotions are a major blind spot for most individuals and for society as a whole. We pay a very high price for avoiding and hiding our emotional pain.

Once we understand the source of our “bad luck” we are able to take constructive steps to resolve the underlying issues.

The good news is that we live in a time where many wonderful therapies are available to assist us in clearing our emotional baggage quickly and easily.

Next time you find the world conspiring against you take a deep breath, a healthy dose of self honesty and see if you can catch a glimpse of your emotional self sabotage that is the real culprit of your self inflicted misfortune.

Isn’t it time you lightened your load and did a spring cleaning on your emotional baggage?

YOU DESERVE TO LIVE A HEALTHIER MORE FULFILLING LIFE!

  • What are ‘Micro Traumas’?

    What are ‘Micro Traumas’?

Trauma is often thought of as a single, dramatic event that has a lasting impact on a person’s life. However, trauma can also manifest in subtler ways through what’s known as micro trauma.

Micro traumas are small, repeated experiences that can accumulate over time and leave you with emotional wounds, significantly impacting your mental and emotional well-being. They can be caused by a variety of factors, such as facing discrimination, being in an unhealthy relationship or cumulative workplace stress.

This article explores the concept of small traumas, their effects on individuals and potential strategies for coping and healing from their impact. By understanding the importance of addressing micro traumas, you can work toward creating a healthier and more supportive environment for yourself and others.

    Micro Traumas and Macro Traumas

While you may have a fair understanding of what micro traumas are, it’s essential to understand the differences between micro and macro traumas and their varied psychological effects.

Macro traumas typically result from singular, major events that have caused you physical or emotional distress. This could be psychological trauma related to a natural disaster, physical or sexual assault, childhood trauma or a severe accident. These events often involve a sense of threat to your safety or life, and they can lead to long-lasting psychological effects such as PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

In contrast, micro traumas are minor, repeated experiences that you may write off as insignificant. However, they can accumulate over time and cause significant harm. These events may not seem traumatic on their own, but their ongoing nature can lead to adverse mental and emotional effects. For example, enduring constant criticism, rejection or discrimination or being subjected to daily stressors like work pressure can accumulate and lead to a sense of being constantly overwhelmed, anxious or hopeless.

It’s important to note that the impact of a traumatic event can vary widely based on a person’s experiences and coping mechanisms. Additionally, many people may experience both macro and micro traumas throughout their lives, and small trauma incidents can exacerbate the effects of macro traumas.

    How to Recognize Micro Traumas

Micro traumas can be difficult to recognize because they often involve small, seemingly common experiences rather than singular, major events. However, there are some common signs and symptoms that may indicate you’re dealing with micro traumas, such as:

    • Chronic stress. If you find yourself constantly stressed or pressured, be it from work or personal matters, you might be undergoing micro trauma, and you should incorporate healthy relief or coping mechanisms into your life.
    • Emotional dysregulation. If you struggle to regulate your emotional responses to some situations, they may be associated with some micro trauma.
    • Negative self-image. If you feel a sense of worthlessness, shame or inadequacy, it might have resulted from small traumas like ongoing criticism or rejection.
    • Avoidance behaviors. If you avoid certain situations or people because they trigger negative emotions or feelings of vulnerability, there might be an underlying micro trauma that you haven’t healed from.
    • Physical symptoms. If you experience physical symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, or muscle tension as a result of ongoing stress or anxiety, you might have unresolved trauma.
    • Microaggression. If you sometimes make subtle but unintentional actions or comments that communicate negative or harmful messages towards someone or something, it might be a coping mechanism from a micro trauma.
    • Relationship difficulties. If you struggle to form or maintain healthy relationships due to trust issues or disconnection from others, that’s a sign that you might need to address some micro traumas.

When evaluating your life to look for unresolved emotional wounds or chronic stressors, use these signs of micro trauma as a guideline. However, remember that everyone experiences micro traumas differently, and not all these symptoms may be present in every case.

Recognizing these signs and symptoms can be an important first step in identifying the presence of micro traumas and seeking support and healing.

    Impact on Mental Health

Micro traumas can significantly impact mental health, as they can lead to a range of negative emotions and psychological effects. The ongoing nature of these experiences can lead to feelings of powerlessness, hopelessness and anxiety, making it difficult to feel safe and secure in your environment.

Over time, the accumulation of micro traumas can lead to symptoms of depression, such as low mood, lack of motivation and feelings of worthlessness. Individuals who’ve experienced micro traumas may also struggle with trust and intimacy in relationships and feel disconnected from others.

Recognizing the impact of micro traumas on mental health is an essential step to healing and recovery, as it can help individuals identify the root causes of their distress and develop strategies for coping and healing.

However, keep in mind that the impact of micro traumas can vary based on individual resilience and coping mechanisms, as well as the specific circumstances of the experience.

    Importance of Addressing Micro Traumas

The ongoing nature of micro traumas can make them challenging to identify and address, but failing to do so can result in severe mental health concerns. Individuals can take steps toward healing and recovery by recognizing and seeking help for their micro traumas.

This may involve developing healthy coping mechanisms to manage ongoing stressors, seeking support from friends, family or mental health professionals or removing yourself from toxic or harmful situations.

Additionally, addressing micro traumas is vital on a broader societal level, as it can help identify and address systemic issues such as discrimination or inequality that may be contributing to the experiences of micro traumas for specific individuals or groups.

Addressing micro traumas is integral to maintaining your mental and emotional well-being and working toward a healthier, more supportive environment for all.

  • Healing Childhood Trauma as an Adult

    What is Trauma?

According to the American Psychological Association (APA), trauma is “an emotional response to a terrible event like an accident, rape, or natural disaster.”

However, a person may experience trauma as a response to any event they find physically or emotionally threatening or harmful. An experience can be traumatic for one person while another person simply shrugs it off.

Another way to look at trauma is to realize that it is unprocessed emotions. When we have a highly stressful experience some emotions may not get fully processed and the result is that these emotions our stored in our body for later processing.

We don’t have any problems processing positive emotions so these unprocessed emotions are always unpleasant emotions. To avoid feeling the pain we associate with these emotions they are soon hidden in our unconscious mind. As a result we usually forget about the incident, however, the unprocessed emotions continue to affect all of our decision making and our behaviour, often without us even realizing it.

It is difficult to release trauma without proper training but once we understand why trauma is experienced and retained we can progress on the path to healing.

Resolving childhood trauma can be a highly cathartic experience. Utilizing the power of our unconscious mind allows us to greatly accelerate the healing process as long as we provide the unconscious mind with proper guidance.

If you feel that past trauma is preventing you from fully enjoying life then please contact me for a free consultation to discuss how I can assist you.

  • Everybody wants to save their marriage but nobody wants to learn NLP

Everybody wants to save their marriage but nobody wants to learn NLP

When you think about ways to save your marriage I doubt that NLP makes it onto your list.

Chances are you haven’t even heard about NLP, little less know what it is.

If you have heard about it chances are you think it is slick double talk used by slimy sales people to sell you something you neither want nor can afford.

Yes, I very much doubt that NLP makes it onto your list of ways to save your marriage.

I only had this epiphany today.

You see, I have been living and breathing NLP for the best part of 20 years.

When I don’t use it to help my clients let go of anger, overcome depression or release outdated grief I train student to become NLP gurus.

So I sometimes forget that most people haven’t even heard about NLP or how it can magically change their relationships and every other aspect of their life.

Come to think of it, nobody has ever signed up to my NLP training to save their marriage, though the training did save the marriages of several students, helped others find their dream partner and transformed their life in ways they couldn’t even imagine before they started the training.

    So what exactly is NLP?

There are many technical definitions but I won’t bore you with those.

In a nutshell, I would say that NLP is the closest thing to a “Science of Happiness” that I have ever seen.

NLP is a bunch of tools, techniques and processes that allow us to change our emotional state (or someone else’s) in seconds or minutes.

Yes, I said seconds or minutes. That’s not a misprint and it’s not hyperbole either.

That is why NLP training has been a mainstay in Fortune 500 companies, the US military and elite sports for decades.

Having breathed this stuff for over two decades I often forget that the average person still hasn’t discovered this groundbreaking technology that has transformed countless lives and has been the bedrock of untold numbers of corporate success stories.

So how exactly can NLP save your marriage?

Well the details obviously vary from case to case depending on the situation but learning NLP will make you a happier person, a better communicator, a more understanding and empathetic partner and it will make you more charismatic without even trying.

Don’t believe me? Find someone who has studied NLP and ask them.

If they don’t agree with my statement above then they studied at the wrong place.

You see the key is that you will learn the skills to become the master of your own emotional domain. You will no longer blame others for how you feel.

You will develop a profound understanding of what causes your partner and others to go into an emotional tailspin at times and you won’t take it personal, because it has nothing to do with you.

At first this profound change may well unnerve your partner and your friends, but very soon they will want what you have.

So next time you are looking for a way to save your marriage, just think NLP (Never Loose Partner) and give me a call.

    You’ll be glad you did.

  • Scientists emulate Telepathy

    Scientists emulate Telepathy

Neuroscientists have successfully hooked up a three-way brain connection to allow three people share their thoughts – and in this case, play a Tetris-style game. The team thinks this wild experiment could be scaled up to connect whole networks of people, and yes, it’s as weird as it sounds.

It works through a combination of electroencephalograms (EEGs), for recording the electrical impulses that indicate brain activity, and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), where neurons are stimulated using magnetic fields.

The researchers behind the new system have dubbed it BrainNet, and say it could eventually be used to connect many different minds together, even across the web.

But apart from opening up strange new methods of communication, BrainNet could actually teach us more about how the human brain functions on a deeper level.

“We present BrainNet which, to our knowledge, is the first multi-person non-invasive direct brain-to-brain interface for collaborative problem solving,” write the researchers.

“The interface allows three human subjects to collaborate and solve a task using direct brain-to-brain communication.”

In the experiment set up by the scientists, two ‘senders’ were connected to EEG electrodes and asked to play a Tetris-style game involving falling blocks. They had to decide whether each block needed rotating or not.

To do this, they were asked to stare at one of two flashing LEDs at either side of the screen – one flashing at 15 Hz and the other at 17 Hz – which produced different signals in the brain that the EEG could pick up on.

These choices were then relayed to a single ‘receiver’ through a TMS cap that could generate phantom flashes of light in the receiver’s mind, known as phosphenes. The receiver couldn’t see the whole game area, but had to rotate the falling block if a light flash signal was sent.

Across five different groups of three people, the researchers hit an average accuracy level of 81.25 percent, which is decent for a first try.

To add an extra layer of complexity to the game, the senders could add a second round of feedback indicating whether the receiver had made the right call.

Receivers were able to detect which of the senders was most reliable based on brain communications alone, which the researchers say shows promise for developing systems that deal with more real world scenarios where human unreliability would be a factor.

And while the current system can only transmit one ‘bit’ (or flash) of data at a time, the team from the University of Washington and Carnegie Mellon University thinks the setup can be expanded in the future.

The same group of researchers has previously been able to link up two brains successfully, getting participants to play a game of 20 questions against each other. Again, phantom phosphene flashes were used to transmit information, in this case “yes” or “no”.

For now it’s very slow and not fully reliable, and this work has yet to be peer-reviewed by the neuroscience community, but it’s a glimpse at some fanciful ways we could be getting our thoughts across to each other in the future – maybe even pooling mental resources to try and tackle major problems.

“Our results raise the possibility of future brain-to-brain interfaces that enable cooperative problem solving by humans using a ‘social network’ of connected brains,” writes the team.

For now, the research available online on the arXiv pre-print server.

  • How Do I Stop Binge Eating

How Do I Stop Binge Eating

    “I was out of control”

    “I couldn’t stop”

“I had to finish the whole package”

“It was like a wild hungry wolf took over my eating”

These phrases are familiar to those of us who struggle with binge eating.  We know all too well the feeling of being in a wave of eating that we can’t stop, even though we know we “should” stop. It might be very clear that we’ll feel physically uncomfortable if we keep eating, yet we still can’t put the fork down. It can feel like a tidal wave that just sweeps us away, and then at the end, pummels us down to the beach with another strong wave of shame. Most binge eaters are all too familiar with the post-binge “I can’t believe I ate all that – what’s wrong with me?” feeling.

How do I stop binge eating?

The shame, guilt and feelings of self hatred that can accompany binge eating means that many binge eaters are not talking about their behavior. We want to keep it quiet because it’s embarrassing. It doesn’t fit with the picture of the rest of our life.  Many binge eaters feel alone in their experience of uncontrolled eating.  But that couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s believed that as many as 6 million American women are struggling with binge eating. And the numbers could be way higher.

The challenge is, our diet-culture is still giving us the message that if we just had enough willpower, we could stop binge eating. But really, if the tough-it-out and just-resist-the-urge diet mentality was the path to stop binge eating, would so many people still be in the painful loop of eating more than they need or want to be eating? If fad diets and the popular just-do-it approaches are not the way to stop binge eating, then what are we supposed to do? How do we stop binge eating? How do we calm the wild uncontrollable feeling that takes over and eats and eats?

The key to stopping binge eating

The key to stopping binge eating is to realize that all of our actions are driven by emotional needs.

Let me repeat this. All of our actions are designed to satisfy our emotional needs.

The number one program our mind runs is “Survival”. Survival translates into minimizing pain and maximizing pleasure.

All of our actions are designed to minimize pain and maximize pleasure.

Most of the time we are not aware of these emotional drivers but they operate all the time nonetheless.

Binge eating is simply one example of irrational behaviour driven by our mind’s desire to meet our emotional needs.

Why do we experience irrational behaviour like binge eating? The answer is that our computer program (our mind) is misbehaving because our database has been corrupted.

    Database? What database?

The mind’s database that stores information about what makes us feel good (gives us pleasure) and what makes us feel bad (gives us pain).

You see, as we go though life we all experience emotional pain sooner or later. Sometimes the pain is so intense that we are unable to fully process all of it. That is when the pain gets internalized.

The problem is that this internalized pain now sabotages our unconscious decision making.

    Let me explain …

Most of our decisions are made by our unconscious mind (the invisible part of our mind) without our conscious awareness. That is not really a problem and is designed that way for efficiency reasons.

The problem starts when we internalize pain rather than dealing with it here and now.

Let’s take an example. Mum is breastfeeding her baby in a public place but dad gets embarrassed and tells her to stop. The poor baby is still hungry and is really angry at mum and dad for starving her. The resulting emotional pain is internalized and soon moves into the unconscious mind because it is to painful to consciously confront.

Years later this incident contributes to the irresistible urge to eat.

This is a very simple example of how a painful childhood event can contribute to emotional eating, even binge eating, in later years.

The fastest way to stop binge eating is to address the underlying issue which is the internalized emotional pain from the past. Timeline Therapy is designed to do just that, quickly and efficiently.

If you want to stop binge eating quickly and permanently then contact me to discuss how we can quickly and safely release the emotional pain from the past.

You are just one phone call away from starting a brand new life.

  • Can Gardening Cure Depression?

Prozac may not be the only way to get rid of your serious blues. Soil microbes have been found to have similar effects on the brain and are without side effects and chemical dependency potential.
    school-gardeners
Learn how to harness the natural antidepressant in soil and make yourself happier and healthier. Read on to see how dirt makes you happy.
Natural remedies have been around for untold centuries. These natural remedies included cures for almost any physical ailment as well as mental and emotional afflictions.
Ancient healers may not have known why something worked but simply that it did. Modern scientists have unraveled the why of many medicinal plants and practices but only recently are they finding remedies that were previously unknown and yet, still a part of the natural life cycle.
Soil microbes and human health now have a positive link which has been studied and found to be verifiable.

Did you know that there’s a natural antidepressant in soil? It’s true. Mycobacterium vaccae is the substance under study and has indeed been found to mirror the effect on neurons that drugs like Prozac provide. The bacterium is found in soil and may stimulate serotonin production, which makes you relaxed and happier. Studies were conducted on cancer patients and they reported a better quality of life and less stress.
Lack of serotonin has been linked to depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and bipolar problems. The bacterium appears to be a natural antidepressant in soil and has no adverse health effects. These antidepressant microbes in soil may be as easy to use as just playing in the dirt.

Most avid gardeners will tell you that their landscape is their “happy place” and the actual physical act of gardening is a stress reducer and mood lifter. The fact that there is some science behind it adds additional credibility to these garden addicts’ claims.
The presence of a soil bacteria antidepressant is not a surprise to many of us who have experienced the phenomenon ourselves. Backing it up with science is fascinating, but not shocking, to the happy gardener.
Mycobacterium antidepressant microbes in soil are also being investigated for improving cognitive function, Crohn’s disease and even rheumatoid arthritis.
    How Dirt Makes You Happy
Antidepressant microbes in soil cause cytokine levels to rise, which results in the production of higher levels of serotonin. The bacterium was tested both by injection and ingestion on rats and the results were increased cognitive ability, lower stress and better concentration to tasks than a control group.
Gardeners inhale the bacteria, have topical contact with it and get it into their bloodstreams when there is a cut or other pathway for infection. The natural effects of the soil bacteria antidepressant can be felt for up to 3 weeks if the experiments with rats are any indication.
So get out and play in the dirt and improve your mood and your life.

  • The Real Reason You Are Failing

Do you feel like you are somehow sabotaging yourself in one particular area of your life?

    Relationship-baggage

You are smart. You are intelligent. You are successful.

And yet, you seem to be always struggling in this one area of your life.

Chances are you are carrying emotional baggage associated with this area of your life and it is holding you back, big time.

    emotional-baggage

So what exactly is emotional baggage and why should you care?

Well, emotional baggage is simply unprocessed emotions from past experiences.

It could be related to something that happened yesterday or it could be about something that happened fifty years ago.

How do we create emotional baggage in the first place? Well, basically we experience intense negative emotions that are too painful for us to process all at once.

As a result the unprocessed emotions get stored in your nervous system. This is where they will stay until they get processed. There is no expiry date. Many people accumulate more and more emotional baggage as they grow older.

Our unconscious mind (which is responsible for running our body and keeping us healthy) manages these suppressed emotions as best as it can. One of the things that happens is that these painful emotions from the past are quarantined so we feel less of the associated pain. Unfortunately this can interfere with cellular communication and can ultimately contribute to the onset of diseases.

All of our decision making (most of which we are not even conscious of) is designed to avoid pain and maximize pleasure.

When we carry suppressed negative emotions they create incorrect and undesirable pain associations in our nervous system.

For example, you are in a loving relationship. Then one day the relationship falls apart. Depending on the circumstances you may well suppress some of the associated pain. This unprocessed emotional pain now causes your nervous system to associate pain with loving relationships.

You still desire a loving, stable long term relationship but at the same time you are also terrified of another painful relationship breakup.

As a result you unconsciously find ways to sabotage every new relationship. This can be so subtle that you may be completely unaware of how you are contributing to the problem. Instead you are likely to project your fears and insecurities onto your prospective partners which creates further tension and instability in your relationships.

Before long you are completely disillusioned with relationships and you decide that you are simply not meant to be with anyone. This is simply a defence mechanism kicking in. You just don’t want to be hurt again.

When you are carrying this sort of emotional baggage from the past you can find the perfect partner and you would still find a way to sabotage the relationship.

The key is to heal yourself first so that you don’t take your past pain into the new relationship.

The fastest way to accomplish this is to enlist the help of your unconscious mind. You can think of your unconscious mind as your biological supercomputer. It is far more powerful than the conscious mind and has access to all of your past memories and experiences.

    Break-Free

As a result in can resolve past issues in a fraction of the time that you consciously could.

By working with the unconscious mind to systematically release and resolve your emotional baggage your life can take a dramatic tun for the better.

Chronic anxiety, depression and self-doubt can be released quickly and easily. As your biological computer is cleared of the data corruption (emotional baggage) you decision making automatically adjusts and you stop sabotaging yourself.

While the dramatic changes can often seem magical to friends and family and even to you, they are simply the logical outcome of processing and releasing your accumulated emotional baggage from the past.

Once the emotional baggage is resolved we can achieve further dramatic improvements in your life by letting go of limiting beliefs that have erroneously found their way into your mindset.

The result is an emotional and mental rebirth that allows you to live life with the joy and excitement that you had as a little child.

At this point your choices are virtually limitless.
